One of my favorite photographic reflections: the Maroon Bells near Aspen, Colorado. Shot this past May at sunrise, it is a testament to one of the few times I sacrificed sleep to get the picture!

Thanks! I got up at 4:15, drove to the trailhead, and staked out a photo spot before I was even half awake! Worth it in the end!

Thank you! I was lucky to catch a nice sunrise that day and have the lake be so still. I’m glad because I am not a morning person and getting up at the crack of dawn was not my idea of fun!

It WAS worth it – and that’s saying a lot coming from this night owl! And thank you!

Thanks, Amy! This might have been the only time I have gotten myself up for a photo, believe me! I just kept trying to capture this place during the day and it wasn’t working. Very unlike me to pursue it; I guess I was feeling ambitious that day!

Thanks, Lisa! I took it for an Instagram post (as you know) but unearthed it for this challenge because I thought it was perfect too!

I do, too, but I’ve never taken one at dawn before! I had heard that was a spectacular time to capture the scene here, so for once I got up and actually pursued a photo just for the photo. I’m glad it turned out well!

Thanks! After the early-morning stakeout I did trying to get just this shot, I’m happy it turned out well!

Thanks, Jo! Everything on that Aspen trip was drop-dead gorgeous. I’d love to go back and explore some more there. I have been VERY bad about keeping up with posts on either blog (although the photography one went by the wayside years ago). I have a trip coming up in February that may prompt me to write a few more entries for the main blog … Meanwhile, I send wishes back for a great Christmas and a very happy 2020 to you also!
