I’d already posted one of my favorite faces in the world on my main blog this week when I remembered the wonderful faces I’d seen on my Bogota Graffiti Tour this past winter. So I’ll double up this week on the Weekly Photo Challenge to share a few photos that never made it onto this photos-only blog.

Thank you! I was pretty snap-happy on that graffiti tour; these are but a few of the colorful walls we saw that day!

For me graffiti can be art, too.

Looks like you found the info on the Bogota Graffiti Tour on my other blog (just google that and you’ll find it) – it was the #1 favorite thing we did there. For food, we especially liked La Fama (BBQ) and La Puerta Falsa (teeny old place with a famous soup – delicious – near the main square). We enjoyed the views of the city from Montserrate, and just rambled around La Candelaria and the old center part of the city. Also found lots of good coffee shops and a couple of nice high end restaurants that were not expensive at all compared to U.S. prices (Astrid y Gaston (Peruvian) and Club Colombia were 2 we liked). There’s also a fun BBQ place outside the city but I forget the name. Have fun – it’s awesome!

Thanks a lot! Did you all stay in la candelaria? And did you walk up to Monserrate or take the teleferico?

We stayed in Chapinero, mainly because we had some hotel points we could use. I wouldn’t go much farther north than that, but taxis and Ubers are super cheap, so it’s easy to get around. We smashed five of us into a cab, drove from downtown to the hotel and the fare was $2-3! We planned to walk up Monserrate but it was 90 degrees that day so we wimped out and took the ride up. Totally possible to walk, though, and we did walk to and from Montserrate from La Candelaria.

Cool, thanks! Yes, it seems like Chapinero and the close-by area are where most of the hostels are centered. Since I don’t have a smartphone, there will be no Uber for me, but I will figure it out. You all must have gone during a semi-dry time if it were that warm.
Thanks, again, for the info :]

Super cool Lexi! How are you doing? Adjusted yet to DC? I just got home last night and forgot how awful jetlag is from Europe! Had a good time but I am so used to off the beaten path now that it felt strange to be surrounded or hoarded by tourists. Yet Prague is so amazing!

Hi Nicole! I look forward to hearing about Prague! I’m surprised there were already crowds in May – wow! DC is … fine. I can’t say I’m really warming up to it; I’m not sure why. I’m “home” in Chicago right now and heading to Aspen for 5 days this week, then I’ll head back to DC. We are definitely settled in, but my daily life just feels sort of like vacation, but I know it’s not, so it’s a strange limbo. I really miss working! I’m sure I’ll feel a little better when the weather improves; it’s been quite ghastly, setting an all-time record for most days of rain. š¦

Wow, that is no good Lexi. It had been very rainy here especially the week I was gone but this week has been amazing 70s and now 80s this weekend. Gorgeous weather. I know what you mean about moving. I haven’t moved much but when I have it has always taken me a really long time to settle in and feel at home. I like DC but can see how you’d miss Chicago and the Midwest. Such a different feel. And yes your job and of course your friends. Have a great time in Aspen. What are you doing? Hiking I hope.
