There is not a lot of exemplary architecture between my house and my workplace (the only route I ply during daylight hours these days), so I’ve had to make do with a few shots of the Cook County Courthouse and Jail. The courthouse is somewhat grand, at least, with its columns and carvings, while the newer jail building is quite spartan and plain. Both structures are depressingly monolithic and sombre, especially on a cold November day.
