Although the day was gray and dismal, I wanted to capture a small part of the colorful street I drive each day to work. I teach at a bilingual college in Chicago, and this street – 26th Street – is the heart of La Villita, the Little Village neighborhood west of the city. I get a bit of a travel fix each and every day as I drive down this street of predominantly Mexican and other Central American businesses. My focus in this photo is not ideal; I had cars honking at me incessantly as I tried to cruise and snap simultaneously!
As always, please feel free to check out One Foot Out the Door for more photos and prose on my travels!
